I am pleased to announce that in 2022 two of my photos won awards in the 2022 IFWTWA Photo Contest. Both photos received first place in their categories. My photo entitled Sensario Pre-dusk took first place in the Landscape Category. In addition, my photo Turret Stairwell won first place in the Urban Landscape Category.
Sensario Pre-dusk
My photo, Sensario Pre-dusk, was taken on a trip to Paso Robles. During this excursion, I visited the Sensario Field of Lights, the awe-inspiring exhibit in Paso Robles by the artist Bruce Munro. I wanted to capture the essence of the 15-acre park before dusk. As I glimpsed at the rolling hills dotted with oak trees, I felt a sense of calm and serenity. As I strolled the paths, I could see the fiberoptic balls that reminded me of flower buds and commenced to take this image to evoke that feeling of calm in the fields of Paso Robles.
I wrote an article for Wander With Wonder called Art and Wineries in Paso Robles: Best of California’s Central Coast, where I used the photo.
Turret Stairwell
This photo called Turret Stairwell was taken at the Dierberg Star Lane Winery Facility in Santa Ynez. The grandeur of the property and the winery facility reminded me of a Spanish Moor castle built against a hill. Inside the winery, the décor feels more French in style. The Dierbergs took nine years to build the winery paying attention to every detail. The image of the Turret Stairwell looks down into the stairwell giving one a sense of the thickness of the walls. These thick walls ultimately keep the winery very cool.
I wrote an article for my blog, The Written Palette, called Dierberg Star Lane Winery, A Family’s Legacy, and used the Turret Stairwell image as part of the article.
2022 IFWTWA Photo Contest
Besides winning two first-place awards this year in the 2022 IFWTWA Photo Contest, I won a first-place award in the 2021 IFWTWA Photo Contest. That image depicted the beauty of a winery’s barrel room.
