Valentine’s Day 2021: Romancing with Wine

Valentine's Day 2021 Wine
Valentine’s Day 2021 may be a little different this year because we are in the midst of a pandemic, but whether we spend the day with the person we love or visit with them virtually, we can still enjoy a glass of wine.  My wine of choice for the day is Rosé.  The elegance of most Rosés brings in a soft, subtle yet seductive nuance that is befitting for the day.

My Valentine’s Day 2021 wine selections will include two Sparkling Rosés, Rosé, and one white wine because I think it fits the romantic profile.

Valentine’s Day 2021 Spreading the Love

I think the Rosé that most exemplifies love is the Casleah Wines Rosé of Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2020. Its colorful label invites you to taste this wine.  This wine is a pretty Rosé in all aspects.  Having met Casleah on several occasions, this Rosé is vibrant like Casleah’s personality. Casleah’s energy fits her wine.  On the tech sheet, it states, “this wine pairs perfectly with spreading joy and an unexpected compliment.” A perfect sentiment for Valentine’s Day.

This Rosé comes from the Petaluma Gap, Sonoma County, the Lakeville Vineyard. The wine ferments in stainless still and ages about 10 to 11 months.  Winemaker Petar Kukeri, Kukeri Wine created this elegant Rosé

I found a refreshingly bright Rosé with wonderful floral aromas. On the palate, flavors of peach and watermelon.

Along with this wine, you must try the Casleah Truffles.  They are the perfect chocolate delight, with one of the ingredients being Pinot Noir.

More about Casleah:

I asked Casleah why she decided to produce wine.

Casleah:  As you know, I’m obsessed with wine and always fascinated by it!! I have such a unique name; I always thought it would be fun to have my own label. As you can tell from the back of the label, I’m on a mission to share love, hope, and joy!! As this project grows, I hope to get more and more involved in the winemaking process.

Valentine’s Day 2021 Sparkling Rosé Brut

Domaine Bousquet NV Sparkling Rosé Brut:  I have been quite taken with Domaine Bousquet’s wines, a winery located in the UCO Valley of Argentina and farms their grapes organically.  The Sparkling Rosé Brut is created in the Charmat Method.  The Brut consists of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. I found a delicate Rosé Brut featuring red fruit and citrus aromas.  On the palate, find flavors of strawberry and citrus, giving the wine sweet and savory nuances.

Vilarnau Rosé Delicat Brut Reserva NV:  Vilarnau is a small artisan Cava house just outside Barcelona, making Cava since 1949. The Brut is created in the méthode champenoise.  The Vilarnau Bruts are distinguished by their colorful bottles that reflect Barcelona’s famous architect Antoni Gaudi.  The Rosé combines Garnacha and Pinot Noir.  The wine delivers aromas of roses and ripe berries, strawberries on the nose, while the creamy texture accents the fresh delivery of the wine.  I found flavors of sweet candy.

Valentine’s Day 2021 Rosé

Frescobaldi Alie 2019, Toscana IGT: This Rosé a favorite from 2020 because of its originality by utilizing Syrah and Vermentino. The Vermentino adds an exciting dimension to the wine and gives the wine body and depth. The effervescence in this wine presents an almost sparkling wine effect making it perfect for Valentine’s Day. Besides offering one the sensation of sparkling wine, I found an elegance to this delicate Rosé accented by bright qualities and peach and pink grapefruit flavors.

Valentine’s Day 2021 White Wine

Tranquil Heart Fiano 2016:  The heart on the label is the give away of why I chose this wine for Valentine’s Day.  Fiano is a white grape that comes from the Campania region of southern Italy and also Sicily. I found the Tranquil Heart version of this variety, a wine that grew on me. With each sip, the wine became more inviting. With flavors of green apple, the wine imbues a sweet yet almost savory expression.
